Nancy O'Dell started her career in the broadcast industry as an anchor at WPDE-TV, Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Later, she worked at WCBD as a morning anchor and crime reporter. O'Dell's reporting on the lax response of the police in response to DUI cases in Charleston caused an investigation by State Law Enforcement Division, which led to a change in policy from state officials regarding DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell won the Best Report of the Media Award in South Carolina by the Associated Press. After her time living in Charleston, O'Dell worked as a co-anchor for the NBC's Miami Station WTVJ-TV and also as an investigative reporter. She then became a part of Access Hollywood to work as the weekend and weekday correspondent. Her current position as host of Access Hollywood is complemented by the work she has done for NBC News Today, Dateline NBC, and NBC News. She was a reporter for events like The Oscars, The Emmys, The Grammys, and The Golden Globe Awards. As well as co-hosting the Pre Show Arrivals for The Emmys & The Golden Globes. Co-hosted The Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.
